Going Solar

The sixty solar panels being installed on our south-facing roof will help the library enormously as we work to reduce our carbon footprint.

At just over $83,000, our system is projected to pay for itself in just over four years. Because of the grant funding and incentives we were able to secure, the Library's 32.4kW solar array will produce 103% of our annual energy consumption. Switching from fossil fuels to this renewable energy source will considerably reduce our carbon emissions.

Library Director Jessica Schoonover successfully wrote and won the competitive EBSCO Solar Grant in 2022 to begin the library's journey into energy conservation and sustainable practices.

Ethos Green Power Cooperative has supported the library's desire to move to solar energy from the very beginning. It has been instrumental in guiding the library through every step of the process.
